I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled

An Ordinance to amend the Law relating to Indictmente in

Criminal Cases, and matters incidental or similar

of opinion that the Ordinance is which is not contrary to the

Governor's Instructions.

The object of this Ordinance is to introduce into this

Colony, with the necessary modifications, the provisions of the

English Act of 1915, 5 & 6 Geo. V. c.90, with the object of sim-

plifying indictments and the rules relating to the forms thereof.

It has not been thought necessary to enact here the provi-

sions of section 6 of the Home Act as to the coats of defective

or redundant indictments; nor the provisions of section 7 as we

have not adopted in this Colony the Vexatious Indictments Acta.
